Golden Albino

Bright gold or yellow body, red eyes

🦎 By The Axolotl Guide

What is a Golden Albino axolotl?

Yellow-gold body with bright pink or red gills and red eyes. The yellow tone changes with diet and light exposure.

Morph-specific care

Slightly more sensitive to bright light because of the red eyes. Keep tank lighting low or use floating plants.

Typical price

Expect $30 to $100 from a reputable breeder. Pet store prices are often double for the same animal with worse genetics. See the buying guide for what to look for.

Is this morph right for you?

  • Rarity: common. Available from most breeders nationwide.
  • First axolotl? Yes, ideal first morph.
  • Care difficulty: The same as any axolotl. Water temperature, filtration, and food rules don't change by morph.

Read the complete beginner setup guide before ordering any axolotl. Tank cycling takes four to six weeks and must happen before your axolotl arrives.
