About The Axolotl Guide
I built this site because most axolotl care content online is one of two things: a pet-store article written by someone who has never owned an axolotl, or a TikTok video that shows the wrong size tank with the wrong food and the wrong temperature.
The third group is good: actual axolotl keepers on Reddit and a handful of veterinary specialists. Their information is correct but scattered across thousands of comments.
This site consolidates the right information from the right sources, written in a way that doesn't waste your time.
What This Site Is
- A complete beginner's care guide built from peer-reviewed veterinary sources and r/axolotls consensus
- Honest gear recommendations with Amazon affiliate links (we get a small commission, you pay the same)
- A food safety database covering every food beginners ask about
- Morph guides with realistic price ranges so you don't get ripped off
- A one-tap cart that drops your full starter kit into Amazon
What This Site Isn't
- A veterinary practice. We're not vets. For real medical emergencies see an exotic vet.
- A breeder or seller. We don't sell axolotls. We point you to reputable sellers in our buying guide.
- A general aquarium site. Axolotls are amphibians, not fish. The care rules are different and we focus only on axolotls.
How We Make Money
Full transparency: this site uses Amazon affiliate links. When you buy gear through a link on this site, Amazon pays us a small commission. The price you pay is identical. Commissions are how we cover hosting and keep adding content.
I will never recommend a product just because it pays well. If something gets into a "best of" list it's because it's the best option for the use case, full stop. I'd rather make less money than steer someone wrong on a 10-year-lifespan pet.
